I attended the first planning event for The Girl Geek Dinners yesterday afternoon (Tuesday 25 January 2011) and was pleasantly surprised to see the impressive turnout of women (and a even a few men!). Salt, the venue for our first meeting, definitely set the tone for future events, which promise to be a chic version of the already popular Geek Dinners.
Girl Geek Dinner Cape Town is all about bringing together the fabulously geeky girls (and guys) of Cape Town for a night of learning and discussion. The dinners are the perfect place for those interested in technology (whether you work in techie industries or are just curious about what’s potting the Geek world). Girl Geek is aiming to bring a feminine touch the already existing list of tech-focused meetings on the Cape Town scene and promises to complement existing events rather than attempt to compete with them.
Basically, the events are a great place to network and get to know like-minded people. So, if you consider yourself a bit of a Geek, be sure to keep your eye on the upcoming events and speakers.
